We hear the term “Girl Boss” a lot lately. Here is where it comes from and what it means. I thought I would provide you with a bit of back story on that term.
Girl Boss comes from the story of Sophia Amoruso. She is the creator behind the clothing brand, Nasty Gal, and the term came from her book titled #GirlBoss. Sophia Amoruso’s book is her back story about living in the city, unable to pay her bills, buying vintage clothes and giving them new life. As a side note, Netflix has a mini-series based on this book.

The term Girl Boss is all about female empowerment, not just in the workplace, but in life. You might be the CEO of a very successful company which makes you a Girl Boss. You might be a student trying to get through college which makes you a Girl Boss. You might be a cashier at Target which makes you a Girl Boss. You might be a stay at home mom which makes you a Girl Boss.
A Girl Boss gets stuff done and handles her business for herself and her family. It doesn’t matter how much you earn, where you live, you’re out there hustling and that’s what matters!
At the end of the day, as long as you’re being true to yourself and believe in what you’re doing, you are a #GIRLBOSS!
